We went into the Bar on entering from Bridge Road. This was on a Sunday night when we would watch ‘Sunday Night at the London Paladium with Bruce Forsythe.. He wasn’t with us, he was compere for the show.
Great place, downstairs aswell as upstairs, where you could get a great meal plus a guy would come round with a cheese board afterwards. Yes you really felt as if you were a someone and only for 10/6 in old money – what a deal.
Anybody know what year the place closed, was it demolished to make way for offices and the Berni inn or was it converted?
Lovely spot. Our Saturday night out upstairs in the cocktail bar, what memories.

We had our wedding reception there in 1959, a 3 course meal for 10/6d a head!
