The Forum Theatre, Billingham presented Bernard Shaw’s ‘The Millionairess’ from 8 – 18 November 1978. Some very big names here including Nigel Hawthorne, Penelope Keith, Ian Ogilvy and Angharard Rees.

There were some big names who played on the Forum Stage though we should remember our own Stockton Stage Society who put on shows every year reforming in 1946 after the war, they had started in 1920 although there was a gap through the war years.
In 1995 it was their 75th Anniversary and they put on Oklahoma to much acclaim my wife never missed a show the 80th anniversary in 2000 being The Merry Widow.
Those shows had Actors Singers Women and Men’s Chorus plus dancers there was a lot of talent in the area. A lot of big names did Pantomime at the Forum and my children never missed going usually getting in to see at least two either the Globe or Darlington. We should lift our hats to those people who put in a lot of hours producing and staging those shows, unlike the big names they did not get paid.

I remember seeing Penny Keith at the Forum and Nigel Hawthorne. I wonder if this is what I saw? Some great Noel Coward Plays too.
