Did this turn into the Yorkshire Penny Bank that had a branch fairly near the Parish Church?
That was the Trustee Savings Bank.
My Mam used to clean this Bank Circa 1955
At HW’s you could have money taken from your wages and placed in your account at this Bank. It was placed into the account once every month. My workmate would go to the Bank after the money had been deposited. On one occasion when he went he was asked to see the Manager who told him it was not worth his while as well as the Banks to continue his account.
