The first photograph was taken in mid 1930’s and shows my mother Frances Wilson (nee Dunnill) sitting on the front doorstep of 97 Lawson Street, the carved detail seen on the door frame is interesting.
The second photograph is my grandmother Lily Dunnill (nee Bruce) at the rear of the house and the third is my grandfather Stan Dunnill and dog in the alley, I believe these were taken in the 1950’s.

Just noticed that i gave the wrong house number with the first photograph, it was 47 not 97.
I believe my grandfather, John Stephenson Dunnill, was Stan Dunnill’s cousin. Was Stan’s father John Robert Dunnill? My grandfather’s father was Richard Dunnill, who was the brother of John Robert Dunnill. In 1891 the brothers were living with their parents Robert and Sarah Ann Dunnill at 8 Lumsden Street, South Stockton (later Thornaby).
Martin, hi.. yes Richard & John Robert were sons of Robert and Sarah Ann who moved to Thornaby (or rather South Stockton, as you say) from Easingwold shortly before your grandfather was born.
My dad was born at number 73 Lawson Street.
I remember him, they had a little shop on the other side of Lawson Street.
Wow, yes I remember hearing that but I’ve never been able to find any information about it anywhere.
My grandparents Hilda and Walter Leaper lived at 88 Lawson Street.
They lived in the kitchen and used the front room for Sunday’s and visitors. Still remember the backyard, outside WC and that back street.

Hi I lived next door to Mr and Mrs Dunhill in Myrtle Road many happy memories Paul Smith.
Paul hi, yes they moved to Myrtle Road when Lawson Street was demolished. My sister Sue remembers you by the way, she told me to say hello to you from her.
Lovely photos. The back street reminds me of ours when we lived in Thorpe Street. The bookies runner use to hang about in it.

His surname was LENHAM.
My mother’s maiden name was Amy LENHAM ..
George, hi.. William (b.15 Mar 1912) and Lily (b.29 Jun 1913) Lenham were living at 61 Laswon Street in 1939, i’m guessing they were your grandparents and your mother was not yet born.
William and Lily are related to George Morris, however they are not his grandparents. William is my father Thomas’s brother.
