I have seen quite a few references on Picture Stockton to this particular address (1 Hartburn Lane) and several people have asked for photographs but there are none at all that were so I though I’d upload this, although it shows almost none of the building it was at least taken within the grounds, in the back garden just near the rear door.
This was in 1981 when the building was derelict following a fire, it had previously been a care home. Three of those seen in the photograph were ‘residents’ from there at the time (Linda, Debbie and a lad whose name eludes me… the other chap is my old mate Keith who I think some might recognise as he was quite well known).
Photograph and details courtesy of MF Wilson.

I was there in the care home 1977 or 78 and loved every minute
This reminds me that I have quite a few photos taken of the house and garden in Ellen Avenue where my mother and stepfather lived between 1975, when they got married, and 1998, when they moved to sheltered housing in Oxbridge. My stepfather had bought it in 1945 when not long married to his first wife.
I shall need some help with the technical aspects of displaying them on this site, please!
I have an earlier photo of me in Preston Park, taken in 1953 or 54.
Assuming your photo’s have been digitised (scanned) you just attach them to an email and send it to the website address given in the ‘contributions & comments’ section.
I only sent this one because there has been quite a lot of interest in this particular address and requests for any photos taken within the grounds.
Great photo!
I lived on Hartburn Lane around that time and our paths possibly crossed.
I left Richard Hind in 78, prior to going to Ian Ramsey.
What a great photo! What a great pose and stare by Keith!
Is the person as the back really smoking or just being “cool” 🙂
Young’uns up-to-no-good I bet 🙂
(No doubt timid by today’s standards)
Thanks for sharing. Wonder where they all are now?

Thank’s for the positive comment! Yeah Keith was one of those people who are naturally ‘photogenic’, I also sent in a photo of him rowing a dinghy on Ropner Park pond but that hasn’t appeared on here. Yes Debbie at the back is smoking a cigarette but everyone used to smoke back then. I’ve no idea where any of them are now.
