A Pictorial History of Stockton-on-Tees
“Richard Hind – a raggy behind”!? I attended Grangefield Grammar after “passing the scholarship”, but gained 5 or 6 “O” levels. Not the most brilliant time of my life, although much later I did gain a Degree “with commendation” in civil engineering after a VERY kind ‘Head Honcho’ on BR Western Region granted me much-extended ‘Day-release’ to complete four further years of rigorous study.
I am front row on the left . Back row Eric Young , Eric Colley , Alan Jackson , ? , Mr Benzies , Front Row Me , Terry Shepherd , ? , Davy Jones , John Fitzpatrick , Andy Callender , Chris ? . I think the cup might be the Salmon Cup . The year is 67/68 . A very good team . Some of our league games were stopped in the first half after we were leading 10 -0
My mother was a teacher at Richard Hind, I think it was about 1966, does anyone remember her? Mrs Laycock ( Helena)
I recognize several of these lads’ faces from Oxbridge Junior School – sadly, their names escape me.
