The Mr Gargett I worked for was named Harold, his wife was Gladys and his sister Jessie. He died after my wife and I were married in 1957, we took her bouquet in to him while he was in hospital. He was a great employer and good to all the staff while I was in his employ.
Gargetts – The Gargetts were Methodists attending Brunswick Chapel opposite The Arc. Alderman Gargett (who I think started the shop) served the council for many years (and may have been Mayor) His son James lived in a house just west of Grosvenor Road Stockton and died around 1960.
Regret not connected to this branch of the family but good to know that another one of us made good.
Here is a close up photo of Gargetts shop on the High Street which was recently mentioned.

This is Gargetts at 137 Stockton High St, where I worked from 1952 until it was bought out along with Coates & Sidgewicks by Littlewoods.
