  1. This is an aerial view of Roseworth from 22nd June 1949, when work had only recently commenced.

Near bottom right is the Mile House pub. The road running along the bottom of the photo is Durham Road. The road starting behind the Mile House and running to the left is Ragpath Lane. And, running from the Mile House up and down the right side of the photo is Darlington Lane. The railway line cuts across the centre of the photo.

Quite a few houses look to be nearing completion on the Ravenscar Crescent/Rochester Road triangle, to the right-centre.

  2. Looks like Redland Tiles was still in business. What a pity it couldn’t be remembered by the new housing estate. Instead it’s called the elms. We knew it as Ozzys Wood. But times move on.

  3. Great photo, I can see Ozzy wood at the top of the photo. Spent many an hour playing in the woods. I remember a large pond, although I can’t see it on the photo. The woods seemed much bigger when I was smaller. Happy days.

    • The pond was filled in and the wood was originally larger in the 50’s / 60’s. Where Redlands Tiles used to be, there were farm sales, then car booters. I think it is now sold and ready for development.
