  1. My parents ran the pub through late 60’s through to 70’s and my brother and I had Bonds Motorcycles just down the road .

  2. A few of us used to go in this pub as a starting point on a Friday or Saturday in the late 7os and 80s then onto the Dovecot and other pubs towards the High Street and back via the Green Tree and I think the Red Lion. Going to look them up and jog my memory.

  3. My Mum and Dad (Doug and Lis Harris) were friends of the landlords at the Clarendon for many years – Eric and Freda Foggin. Eric died several years ago but Freda was well at least a couple of years ago when she exchanged Christmas cards with Mum. She’d be mid 80s by now …

  4. As I think I mentioned somewhere on this site before, this is a very old pub. My grandfather was unfortunately knocked down and killed by a horse-drawn carriage on Hartington Road, walking home after a session in the Clarrie. That was in 1916!

  5. Used to drink in the Clarendon after going to the Dovecot. Used to take a girlfriend in for a drink in 1975/6…have recently met her agin after 34 years.

  6. Happy memories of the Clarendon pub when finishing work has drivers for Billingham Press in Brunswick street John and myself called there each night and had a couple of drinks with the landlord up to me retiring in 1986 and emigrating to Perth W, Australia. We liked to watch tom cats duels with the mouse on the telly had plenty of laughs and were always sure of a good pint, not very busy around five o’clock at night. Our boss Tom Dodds often took visitors there at lunch time on Saturday after work.

  7. This pub was our regular kick off point on a Saturday night back in the 70s. Good pint of proper beer, not the wishy washy lager stuff!
