On the 8 January, 1955, the children of the members of the Sports Club were entertained at the Globe Theatre, Stockton to see ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, the Front and Centre Circles had been booked as far back as July 1954. Each child received a bag of mixed fruit and a tub of ice-cream during the interval.
The stage manager invited a group of children back-stage where photographer Harold Scott was able to take some photographs f the children with Frankie Vaughan and Vera Cody. Vera Cody brought along her horse Goldie and her performing dogs which proved a favourite with the children during the show.

A 1918 image showing seven ladies from Tilery celebrating the end of the Great War by dressing up in uniforms or national dress of the Allied countries which won the war.
The lady sitting down wearing a kimono in honour of Japan (an ally in the First World War) is my great grandmother Catherine Connor. She always sat for pictures side on because during her life she had lost an eye following an accident.

The old access road to the Whessoe works, formerly know as the South Works of Ashmore Benson & Pease. By the time I took this picture in 1985, it has been breached by the new A66 road. This section still exists as Innovation Way and serves a small commercial area.

This photograph is of Billingham Campus Stephenson Hall School visiting Rome for the 1960 Olympics, it was organised by teacher Martin Wing, he is standing at the leftmost side of the photo with his hand on his hip, two of the other teachers I recognise are in the back row, counting from the right there are five pupils and two teachers, they are Margo Landells and Bill Crozier, they later married and both attended our last reunion in November 2015. The girl sitting at the very right hand side of the front row could possibly be Ann Venus.

Although this photograph was probably taken in the mid-eighties, I don’t remember it being very different from when I used to commute to the various Dorman Long sites around South Bank, Cleveland Works and Warrenby, although at that tine Warrenby was run by BISRA (British Iron and Steel Research Association). What was the Embassy Club and was there any special reason for the pedestrian overbridge?
