Stockton Station 1967
A view from the end of platform two at Stockton Station with WD 2-8-0 No.90074 arriving with a coal train in July 1967. This engine was originally built for the War Department (WD) by the North British Locomotive Company of Glasgow (as works no.24940) in August 1944. It was an almost daily visitor to Stockton during the last summer of local steam (1967). It was condemned from its home shed 51C West Hartlepool on 9/9/1967 and sold to Arnott Young of Dinsdale for scrap. Note the disc shaped, ground level, shunting signals in the foreground, and the massive water tower hidden behind the signal, with Primrose Hill signal box to the right. Photograph and information courtesy of Alan, Berkshire.
