Licences issued to Emanuel Groskop c1890

These are licences issued to my great grandfather, Emanuel Groskop of 5 Thistle Green, Stockton in 1890. One licence is an Auctioneer’s licence issued 19th September 1890 the other is a Hawker’s licence issued 18th September 1890.

ICI Fertilizer and Synthetic Products, c1931

t827 In 1931 as part of a general re-organisation, a new company was formed to look after most of the Billingham site. It was called ICI Fertilizer & Synthetic Products.

Yarm Railway Viaduct, 2012

t12791Yarm Railway Viaduct seen from Aislaby Road and caught in sunlight. This is probably the best place to appreciate this fascinating mid-Victorian feat of brickwork and stone engineering from, as it spans the river Tees and the original town of Yarm in one straight line.

ICI ‘Long Service Award’ c1947

t12903This is a ‘Long Service Award’ for my fathers 20 years service at the ICI.  As you can see it is dated the 1st January 1947 making his starting date there as 1926-27.  I would think that he would be there probably near the start of the ICI at Billingham.

The Empire Theatre

t7654Possibly taken c1960s is a photograph of the Empire Theatre, formerly the Castle Theatre on the corner of Bridge Road. The Empire started life as a theatre, before becoming a music hall, a cinema and eventually a bingo hall before it was demolished c1969.
