North Shore Bridge

t9712 t9713 t9715These photographs show the new North Shore Bridge spanning the River Tees. Some of the photographs show the River Tees at dawn, just before work commenced to lift the final span of the spectacular new North Shore bridge over the River Tees into position. Some show the span in place, still supported by the massive crane.

The 290 tonne arch was built at Corus Steel. It spans 180 metres and is 40 metres above the Tees at its highest point. The design of this bridge is unique, there isn’t a similar structure anywhere in the world. The bridge was completed on 5th September 2008 and is yet to be named.
