Brenda Varty was a motorcycle outrider. One of her main duties was to stop traffic to allow military convoys to pass unhindered. Brenda had been an ARP first aider before joining up.

Olive Helyer was in an Anti-Aircraft platoon. She trained in Plymouth and manned the guns on the south coast. When the threat to the coast was reduced she was moved to a battery in Hyde Park, London.
Stockton Lads in the Great War
These Stockton lads were either on the way or in France for the Great War. Top right is Herbert James Wilson, finally a coal merchant on his return to England after the war.
